Iran, South Africa negotiate to participate in petrochemical industry

South Africa, which had background in participation in petrochemical industry plans in Iran, intends in a new round of cooperation with Iran to build a GTL complex.

According to the report of Petroleum Ministry on Sunday, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei considered grounds for cooperation between the two countries with South African Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Petterson here on Sunday.

The two sides also discussed future cooperation opportunities.

The South African delegation headed by Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Petterson arrived in Tehran on Saturday.

She met with Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh on Saturday.

Following the meeting, Zangeneh announced the possibility to export Iran's oil to South Africa and participation in petrochemical industry.

South Africa was already Iran's oil purchaser before imposed sanctions.
