Iran, Holland to cooperate in water management

Bahram Taheri, Iranian minister’s advisor in a meeting with Dutch Henk Snoeken, Deputy Director of International Affairs at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, discussed the ways the two governments and the ways Iranian and Dutch companies could cooperate.

The two sides emphasized on cooperating in the fields of water management, water governance, research and development in water issues and risk reduction plans, etc.

In October 2016, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment and the Iranian Minister of Energy.

In the aforementioned meeting, the Dutch Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen said that the Netherlands was ready to cooperate with Iran in desalination and agricultural wastewater treatment.

According to Schultz van Haegen, issues like river management, water shortage management, training Iranian managers in Dutch companies, etc. could pave the way for more cooperation.

Also a contract to make a solar power plant in Iran was signed in April, 2016.
