Iran, Armenia agree to form economic working group

In the meeting, the two sides discussed and considered spheres of cooperation and ways to facilitate expansion of economic and industrial ties between Iran and Armenia.

Khosrotaj pointed to a number of problems for businessmen of the two countries and underlined reciprocal efforts of officials to remove the obstacles by formation of a joint working group.

Azizian welcomed the proposal and underlined the necessity for planning to reach goals of development of cooperation programs with Iran.

It was agreed that representatives from Iran embassy and Industry, Mine and Trade Organization as well as two experts from Armenia Economic Ministry form the working group and hold meeting twice monthly to consider problems, analyze data and information and declare results to the related officials.

Khosrotaj also met with Minister of Economic Development and Investment of Armenia Suren Karayan and attended Iran, Eurasia, Armenia meeting and considered economic cooperation programs, in presence of Vice-Prime Minister of Armenia Vache Gabrielyan.

Following visit of President Hassan Rouhani to Yerevan in January 2017 and holding talks with President Serzh Sargsyan and negotiations between senior officials and reciprocal visits of different delegations, plenty of grounds were prepared for development of cooperation between the two countries.

Armenia, as the sole member of Eurasia economic union with land border with Iran, accompanied with Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan and Iran are preparing vast planning to form a free trade region.
