Energy minister: Russia ready for oil cooperation with Iran

In an interview with reporters on Monday, Alexander Novak responded to a question about whether Russia sought to find a mechanism for more Iranian oil exports, he expressed it.

'We are working with Iran in different fields, our cooperation in energy is expanding, and Iran and Russia are exporting oil,' Interfax quoted Novak as saying.

Russian Energy Minister said both countries have independent oil exports, but there is also a total cooperation in the field as Tehran is ready to cooperate with its partners and oil buyers.

Last week, Novak said his country is seeking to work with Iran despite the start of new sanctions and will continue its cooperation with Tehran.

In an interview with Financial Times, he said, “We need to find a mechanism for cooperation in new conditions that would enable the continuation and development of cooperation with our partners and Iran.”

The Russian Ministry of Energy confirmed that the oil cooperation of the two countries would allow Tehran to use part of its oil revenues to pay for the price of Russian goods.
