The trade exchange between Iran and Azerbaijan increased by 70 percent in 2016, and the figure on the first nine-month period of the current year rose by 30 percent compared to the same period in 2016, President Aliyev said in a meeting with Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Masoud Karbassian in Baku on Friday.
He said he is confident that Tehran and Baku will continue their effective cooperation in the future.
The two sides also discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of economic activities, transportation, trade, North-South Transport Corridor as well as agricultural and banking activities.
Karbasian arrived in Baku on Thursday along with his deputy, Mohammad Khazaie, and Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Asqar Fakhrieh Kashani.
This is the first visit to Baku by Karbasian as the Iranian chairman of Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Commission.
