Iran, Georgia call for expansion of academic cooperation

Iran’s ambassador to Georgia Javad Ghavam Shahidi was also present in the meeting.
Georgian minister highlighted the two sides' historical and cultural relations and said such deeply rooted affinity have prepared the ground for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation in various scientific and academic fields.
There is no doubt that expansion of scientific and educational cooperation plays significant role in prospects of cooperation between the two countries, said the Georgian minister.
Student placement, enrollment of Iranian university students at high education levels, expansion of cooperation on Iranology studies are among topics on cultural agenda between Tehran and Tbilisi, Georgian minister said.
Tehran is ready to broaden scientific and academic cooperation between the two countries, Farhadi said.
Iran is ready to award 15 scholarships to Georgian universities to ease exchange of university students and professors along with expansion of Iran related studies, he said.
In the meeting the two ministers also examined expansion of academic centers, scientific and technological parks and setting up joint venture academic courses.
Farhadi leading a delegation arrived in Georgia on Tuesday and is to visit Armenia on Thursday to confer with the country’s officials on expansion of mutual cooperation.
