Yavar Abbas said in the opening ceremony of the 11th International Culture Festival in Gonbad-e Kavus, in the northern province of Golestan that Iranian ethnic cultures are so dynamic and show the strength of the Iranian culture and the flexibility of Islam.

Referring to the fact that Iran and Pakistan are friends and brothers and that their cultures, languages, and history are interwoven, Abbas added the Festival is a great chance for Iranian and foreign tourists to travel to green cities of north of Iran and get familiar with Iran's culture, history, traditions, and heritage.

Over 200 artists from Golestan and 60 artists from other provinces are participating in the exhibition, he said.

The 11th International Ethnic Culture is being held in two provincial cities of Gorgan and Gonbad-e Kavous this year, said an official, noting that the event will be held in Gorgan from September 4-7 while Gonbad-e Kavous is to host it from September 9-11.

The border province of Golestan is located 30 km from the Caspian Sea and is home to different ethnic and religious groups.

In a bid to boost tourism industry, Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization decided to conduct various festivals in different Iranian cities and provinces to introduce colorful Iranian culture and traditions to the domestic and international tourists.
