‘Bitter Sea’ crosses BIFA first stage

Ahmadi’s short movie was selected along with 14 other titles as semi-finalists for BIFA’s Best British Short Film Award. The festival will announce five of the above films as the final candidates for the award, ifilmtv reported.

Produced by Emma Parsons and starring Ada Condeescu, the flick is about a Romanian mother who has recently escaped from an abusive husband and fled to London to build a better future for her daughter.

She finds a job and place to live, but the landlord has a strict ‘no children allowed’ policy. Trapped in an impossible situation, she has to find a way to hide her daughter being in the apartment.

‘Bitter Sea’ recently received an Honorable Mention at the 24th International Adana Film Festival in Turkey.

BIFA winners will be announced at the British Independent Film Awards on October 31.
