Ayatollah Makarem explains about Saudi clerics’ invitation to debate

The explanations came after the some Saudi websites reported that senior Saudi cleric Sheikh Abdollah bin Soleiman has said that the senior Saudi clerics are ready to take part in debate sessions with Shiite clerics in Saudi Arabia or Iraq and explain the right for them and their base will be the holy Quran and tradition and anyone who opposes he is deviated from the right path.

“Such invitation which is impolite shows that they are not ready for proper and logical debate, but whenever they will be ready to meet in a polite and logical atmosphere for resolving the ideological differences, the Shiite Ulemas are fully ready to attend the meeting in Iraq or Lebanon, and on the basis of Quran and prophet Mohammad (PBUH)… ,” Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi’s office said.

“We hope that such a rational and fair session to be held to help alleviate the differences among Shiites and Sunnis and help to unity of Muslims,” it added.
