Iraqi Sunni leader hails Iran's role in fighting Daesh

'Your historic stance in war against Daesh was effective for Iraqi people and provided opportunities for creating friendship between Iranian and Iraqi peoples,' Abdolghader al-Hassani of al-Rabet al-Mohammadi Council said.

'The unity between Iran and Iraq has a positive impact on the region and in the world as well,' he added.

He also pointed to terrorist groups as a corrupt cursed tree, saying Iran's support of Iraqi army, security and popular forces was very influential.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on November 21 announced end of Daesh in Iraq.
