Hossein Tard Aliyev, who spoke on the sidelines of the Fajr Chess International Competition, said, 'The presence of more than 800 chess players at different age groups from Iran and the world during this tournament shows that your country (Iran) has an important and decisive role in chess in Asia.'
“In the course of the competition, given the presence of Iranian and foreign great chess players, we witnessed a tough competition between them in the final rounds,' Uzbek noted.
He said there were fewer Grandmasters in the course of the competition, one of the main reasons being the low prize, but the players would undoubtedly compete in the course.
The 27th Fajr International Chess Championship was held on Tuesday, January 26th, with more than 800 domestic and foreign players in three parts of the masters, free and adolescents, which ended with Alireza Firoozja's championship. Also, Pavel Pencheratov was runner-up from Russia and Ehsan Qaem Maqami, the Grandmaster of our country, stood in third place.
