Rouhani: Footballers Iran's soft power envoys

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with the members of Iran national football team, its coach, head coach and officials at the federation on Wednesday.

'Iranian athletes have grave responsibility in attaining championships as well as observing code of conduct and ethics at international fields,' he said.

Appreciating their great achievements, President Rouhani said you made our people to jubilate once again after nationwide presidential elections.

'Sporting championship mainly football help consolidate national solidarity worldwide,' he said.

All Iranian people irrespective of their tribes became united for this victory which is regarded as manifestation of national resolve in the country, Rouhani said.

Government is to fully support Iran's national football team to attain greater victories, he said.
