The Red-Army advanced to the Asian final in a 1-1 draw with Al-Sadd of Qatar in Tehran and in the presence of thousands of enthusiastic fans.
In previous match, Perpolis defeated the Qatari team in Doha 1-0. The final result registered as 2-1 to the benefit of the Iranian club.
The invaluable advancement to the final at home brought the Iranian most favored club to the final of the Asian football tournament.
The first goal for the Qatari squad netted at 18 minutes in the first half while the goal for Perspolis was scored at the 49 minute into the second half though a good teamwork by the Iranian players.
Despite the Qatari outfit’s best efforts to pull level, Persepolis were ultimately able to hold out to claim maximum points to finish first in the group, and will now meet its rival from east of Asia at finals.
