Iran's taekwondoka wins gold medal in Baku Games

Madi Eshaqi in minus 54 kilogram weight category could win the gold medal by defeating his rival from Kyrgyzstan and advanced to the quarterfinal.

Then he defeated a Saudi taekwondo athlete 35:11. In the semifinal he could go to the final following withdrawal of a taekwondoka from Senegal.

Eshaqi then defeated his rival from Azerbaijan by a final score of 3:0 and grabbed the gold medal of the games.

The Iranian taekwondo team is led by head coach Fariborz Askari.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games May 8-22 are underway in the Azerbaijan capital. 166 athletes from 23 countries are competing in taekwondo.
