Iranian female karate fighters shine in int'l champs

Some 283 athletes in 87 weight categories participated in the event.

Athletes from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Iraq attended the two-day competitions.

Iran team (A) ranked first in kata and Kumite sections and Azerbaijan and Iraq stood on the second and third places, respectively.

Kyokushin is a style of stand-up, full contact karate, founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese Masutatsu Oyama.
