Iranian athlete breaks world power lifting record

Alireza Izadi broke the Asian and world record at Para Powerlifting Asia-Oceania Championships held in Japan in 49 kg group.

He won a gold medal in junior category as well as a bronze in adult category with a best lift of 140 kg.

The 2018 Para Powerlifting Asia-Oceania Open Championships is underway Sept 8-12 in Kitakyushu, Japan.

This competition is also considered as the qualification stage for 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
