Iran wushu team wins int’l peace & friendship champs

The event was held with the attendance of 150 athletes from India, Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, Head of Sistan-Baluchestan Province wushu committee Abbas Shibak told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday night.

In both male and female categories, India and Afghanistan ranked second and third respectively, he said.

Wushu is a martial art and a full-contact sport. It was developed in China after 1949, in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts, although attempts to structure the various decentralized martial arts traditions date back earlier, when the Central Guoshu Institute was established at Nanking in 1928.
