The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Ali Assadi, the head of the archeological team in the Pargan Tonb in Jenah as saying on Sunday that in surface survey of the site in addition to the architectural and clay works dating back to the historic periods, some samples of stone tools, similar to the samples of the Bakun A period discovered in Fars, have been identified.
With regard to the fact that so far in that part of the city of Bastak and Jenah area no site has been discovered with such oldness and cultural works, the site is therefore very important as the site is less than 30 km from the Persian Gulf, he said.
Saying that the third exploration season of the Pargan Tonb in Jenah has been launched in early February with an aim of getting deeper knowledge about the site, he added that identifying the exact architectural shape of the round building on the top of the hill as well as its protection and better maintenance are among other objectives.
Based on the results achieved so far, it seems that the hypothetical reconstruction that has been conducted on the building took place at the end of the second season, is close to the reality and on the central space of the building there had been a circular dome, Assadi noted.
The archeologist said based on the existing evidence, the round building of the Pargan Tonb is a special sample of architectural initiatives of the Sassanid period in the northern hinterland of the Persian Gulf, adding that it is not clear what previous structure has inspired the architects of the building as so far no similar plan of the architecture of that time has been observed.
The head of the archeology team noted that at the end of the second season of explorations and with the financial contribution of Mansour Abbasi, a benefactor of the city, the explored area was brought under protection from the torrential rains and other atmospheric factors.
