Speaking on the sidelines of his meeting with Azeri Minister of Sports Azad Rahimov, Amiri referred to strategic relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, saying that Iran's strategy is to expand relations between Tehran and Baku.
He added that Iran is looking foward to promoting sport cooperation with Baku.
He noted that during the meeting, both sides discussed holding joint camps with the nature of scientific and academic activities and holding friendly matches.
Referring to strong ties between Tehran and Baku, Salehi Amiri said the meeting will be regarded as initiation of developing sport relations.
Azeri minister of sports is to pay a visit to Azadi Sport Complex on Monday.
The Azeri minister is to hold talks with President of Iran's National Olympic Committee Reza Salehi Amiri and while touring Iran's National Olympic and Paralympic Academy during his stay in Iran.
Iranian and Azeri ministers will attend a dinner banquet in Azerbaijan's diplomatic mission in Tehran on Tuesday evening.
Iran and Azerbaijan signed their first memorandum of undrestanding (MoU) on April 9, 2014.
The first executive plan was signed between the two sides on March 28, 2018.
