Austrian FM: JCPOA on EU agenda

Speaking to the reporters before the EU foreign ministers meeting, Kneissl invited all parties to help maintain the treaty and implement their pledges.

Given to various scenarios, she advised all parties to exercise self-restraint in dealing with Iran's nuclear dossier.

Various reports issued by the IAEA indicate that the Islamic Republic of Iran has remained committed to the JCPOA, she said.

Any vacuum and declaration of a new treaty will look like an impassable route; Kneissl said, adding that it is not possible to ignore the JCPOA as it once proved its significant development in diplomacy.

The EU foreign ministers meeting will be held in Brussels on Monday.

The US withdrew from the internationally-recognized agreement with the Group 5+1 on the JCPOA in 2018 and revived all the suspended economic sanctions already imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Other members of the Group 5+1 condemned the US move while remaining committed to the JCPOA.
