Chief of Chess Board of Khuzestan Abdulamir Khatibzadeh said on Tuesday that the international chess competition will be held in Ahvaz for seven days from February 2.
He added that more than 250 chess players (international masters and Grandmasters) from countries of India, Armenia, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, France, Ireland, Austria, Nepal, Syria, Iraq, Portugal, Botswana, England, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Denmark and Iran compete with each other.
Khatibzadeh went on to say, 'About 30 international masters, Grandmasters and masters of FIDE from our country announced their readiness.”
Chief of Chess Board of Khuzestan referred to the three international tables and said, 'Given the presence of the world's top chess players in the competition, it is expected that the tournament will be held at a very good level, which will be beneficial for chess in Khuzestan.'
