Zarif: US breach of commitments to be encountered

Zarif is in Istanbul to attend the meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers on Palestine.

He said at a press conference that the US policies were discussed in the Supervising Board for Implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and it was decided to examine and take legal and practical measures to counter the US' decisions.

Saying that the US policies are the a manifest of the US' intensification of hostility and lack of commitment toward Iran, Zarif said they are very worried about the fact that the deal has made Iran more powerful and has limited their maneuver power.

He said the first step would be to take the legal actions and recorded them in the international bodies and the Joint Commission of the JCPOA, and some actions have started in the Iranian Atomic Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well.

He said some measures have started to prevent Iran from benefiting from the advantages of the JCOPA.

The JCPOA was negotiated based on lack of trust and nowhere in the JCPOA can you find to point to the sign of mutual distrust, said Zarif, adding that the JCPOA shows in whole that the negotiation parties, especially Iran, distrust the US policies.

The minister said the JCPOA envisions explicitly the kind of measures that would lead to abandonment of the JCPOA.

Zarif said, 'But the time the measures should be taken will be decided by the board supervising the JCPOA. A kind of violation should take place definitely. The violation will deprive the Islamic Republic of Iran from the chance of standing as the main beneficiary of the JCPOA. In that case, Iran will take due decisions.'
