“#SCO Summit in China illustrated how fast the world is changing. Commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation, solid support for JCPOA [the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] & rejection of unilateralism. Pres. Rouhani had constructive meetings with many leaders, incl substantive bilats with Presidents Xi and Putin,” Zarif wrote in his Twitter account.
He also referred to recent unsuccessful G7 Summit saying “while the G7 were busy fighting among themselves in Quebec—and unsuccessfully trying to appease the habitual Deal-Breaker-in-Chief—the #SCO Summit in Qingdao illustrated something altogether different: respectful cooperation among nations committed to multilateralism.”
The Iranian president attended the 18th summit upon an invitation by his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Some senior officials, such as the Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh, and Minister of Economy Masoud Karbasian were accompanying President Rouhani in the meeting.
Four documents were signed on fighting narcotic drugs and organized crimes, Iran's role in 'One Belt, One Road' initiative, stock exchange and security cooperation, and academic cooperation.
