Zarif: Syria peace guarantors determined to find political solution

“In Moscow with Russian & Turkish FMs to continue our peacemaking efforts in Syria. Determined to build on our achievements in Astana & Sochi on de-escalation, humanitarian aid and advancement of the only viable political process. Peace is within reach,” Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a Twitter message released on Saturday.

The ministers of foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey, as guarantors the ceasefire regime in Syria, held their second meeting in Moscow on 28 April 2018. They discussed the development of the situation in and around Syria and its impact on the regional peace and security.

The meeting was aimed at discussing the latest developments in Syria, he added.

The previous negotiations between the top diplomats of the three countries, acting as guarantors of the Syrian ceasefire, were held in Kazakhstan's Astana on March 16.

During the meeting, Iran, Russia and Turkey in a statement underlined continuation of effective interaction between all parties in Syria and preventing sectarianism.
