War rhetoric harms Saudi interests: Report

Rai al-Youm daily in its editorial reflected the Saudi Defense Minister Mohammad Bin Salman provocative remarks against Iran and the reaction by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan.

The newspaper wrote that Saudis, who are habited to rage proxy wars in other countries by the help of Western and American arms, will not benefit from threatening Iran.

The Arabic language daily referred to Iran complaint to the United Nations and Iran’s Foreign Ministry statement in reaction to the event and noted that such measures did not satisfied Tehran and it decided to show a stronger response to Saudi rhetoric.

The Iranian defense minister’s unprecedented reaction that said the Saudi Arabia will be completely annihilated (except Mecca and Medina) shows that the Iranian officials are quite ready for adopting reciprocal measures towards the Saudi war rhetoric, it added.

The London-based newspaper said that Bin Salman’s threat is not just war rhetoric and his remarks were a pre-planned and recorded dialogue that was widely broadcasted several days after its record.

Rai al-Youm daily referred to the Saudi crown prince remarks that they will work to have the battle in Iran, adding that the Saudis have already done the job and they have injected billions of dollars and a great amount of arms to Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan to cause trouble for Iran.

It also pointed to Saudi plan for buying anti-ballistic missile defense System known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) from the United States and said while Riyadh is engaged in two Yemen and Syria wars and dire economic situation, entering another war is not advised.

In the meantime, there is no sign of Iran decision for attacking Saudi Arabia, the newspaper said.

It said that the ongoing war of words between Saudi Arabia and Iran will not be harmful to Iran but damages the Saudi Arabia stability and security which is provided by the non-Saudis.

The fear for war will result in escape of capitals from Saudi Arabia and according to the Economic Newspaper latest reports, 50 percent of the capitals will go to the European and American banks if the war rhetoric is continued, Rai al-Youm daily added.
