Veep orders officials to pursue fate of mine blast victims

He called governor general to use all medical possibilities to cure the injured workers and to use all provincial possibilities to find and rescue entrapped workers.

The VP also asked minister of cooperative, labor and social welfare to follow up the case for treatment of injured persons and compensation for damages.

A blast took place in Zemestan Yurt Coal Mine in Azadshahr city at 12:45 hour’s local time on Wednesday.

The mine located in 90 kilometers east of Gorgan city, capital of the Golestan province, and it was said that more than 500 miners are operating there.

Director General for Golestan province crisis management department Sadeqali Moqaddam said on Wednesday afternoon that in spite of rapid rescue operation in the mine there are still 26 miners entrapped in the tunnel.

According to the latest figures, 30 miners have been transferred to medical centers and their names were also published.
