He further noted that climate change has created big challenges for the world and countering its grave repercussions requires full and sincere participation of all countries, the industrial states in particular.

President Donald Trump announced on June 1st that the United States would withdraw from the Paris climate accord, weakening efforts to combat global warming and embracing isolationist voices in his White House who argued that the agreement was a pernicious threat to the economy and American sovereignty.

Commenting on Trupm's decision, Qasemi said, “Noncompliance with the Paris Accord by the US government which is the second producer of greenhouse gases and among most polluting states in the world is unacceptable and condemned.”

He further noted that the global community should force the US new administration to fully implement its international commitments.

Preventing any damage to international deals such Paris Accord, which is in turn epitome of global cooperation and promoter of multilateralism, is essential and global community should seriously prevent undermining the deal, he added.

“According to Iran, irresponsible exit of the US administration from the deal will not eliminate its responsibility against climate change arising from spread of greenhouse gases,” Qasemi said, referring to the US as one of the biggest countries producing greenhouse gas emissions.
