US strike on Syria means attacking powers fighting terrorism: Assad advisor

Basineh Shaaban told the Lebanese media network, al-Mayadeen, on Friday that the US move was aimed at making up for the terrorists’ failure and saving those who have targeted the Syrian nation.

She further noted that the US attacked the airfield under the empty excuse of using of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun region but the main reason behind the attack was the victory and accomplishments the Syrian Army attained in the fight against the terrorist groups of Daesh and al-Nusra.

There is a clear contradiction in the US and West’s behavior; on the one hand they claim they are fighting terrorism and on the other, they are attempting to save the terrorists after their heavy defeats against the Syrian Army and incite them against the ruling administration in the country. Shaaban said.

How can a country like the US which claims to be advocating abidance by law and human rights launches an oppressive strike that reveals its carelessness and willingness to help terrorists? She wondered.

The Syrian officials further noted that her country will confirm Russian proposal to hold a meeting in the UN Security Council to condemn the US strike on an independent and sovereign country. Not to mention that Syria will continue its fight against terrorism, uncovering West’s lies and empty excuses.

The Zionist regime which is always in contact with the Persian Gulf littoral states’ regimes is the first that benefits strike on Syria, she said.

US’ first aggression on Syrian Army’s positions under Donald Trump began on Friday morning by launching 59 missiles at Shayrat Airfield in Homs province.

According to the Western media the US launched dozens of cruise missiles Thursday night on a Syrian airfield in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun near Idleb.

According to foreign media reports, two US warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired 59 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target - Shayrat Airfield in Homs province in western Syria, the US Defense Department said.

The recent attack is considered as the first US direct invasion on Syria during Trump tenure.

The missile attack was carried out without the permission from UN Security Council and the US Congress.

Syria strongly denies role in Idleb chemical attack.

Syrian military forces are fighting against Daesh terrorists in the east of Homs province and the Takfiri group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, in north of the country.
