US State Department denounces terrorist attacks in Tehran

Spokesperson of the US Department of State Heather Nauert in a statement on her twitter account today said, “The United States condemns the terrorist attacks in Tehran today. We express our condolences to the victims and their families, and send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the people of Iran. The depravity of terrorism has no place in peaceful, civilized world.”

After two coordinated terrorist attacks hit parliament and mausoleum of the late Father of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran, many messages of condolences poured in from around the world condemning terrorism and calling for pooling efforts to annihilate the evil phenomenon.

According to security forces, one of the attackers on the late Imam’s mausoleum was gunned down before he could fulfill his malicious purpose but another suicide attacker blew himself up. Meanwhile, from three attackers to the Iranian Parliament, two were killed and one detonated himself.
