US sanctions not to influence Iran-Austria ties

Scholz who is currently in Abadan to inaugurate an exhibition of works by the Austrian architect and urban planner Otto Wagner told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that his country does not accept US unilateral sanctions against Iran, but unfortunately these sanctions are now a reality.

“I am sure that channels for financial transactions between Iran and Austria will be open to help promote cooperation,” he said.

Iran and Austria boast of long-standing cooperation as their mutual cooperation dates back to 700 years and diplomatic relations to 160 ago, he said, adding, 'The two countries’ religions have been holding dialogue for 25 years.'

“Iran’s president came to Austria on his first visit to the country when he stressed the need for boosting bilateral relations,” he said.

Iran boasts of numerous capacities and that’s for the same reason Austria has kept its ties with it over the past 700 years, he said.

“Holding cultural exhibitions are considered one step forward in line with boosting economic and political relations,” Scholz said.
