US resorting to military means to address internal issues: Foreign Ministry

“Such measures are mainly the result of the US internal failures,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi told reporters on Monday, answering a question on US officials rhetorics against Iran.

Americans urgently needed to create consensus among themselves and send a message to their regional allies, reassuring them of Washington’s continued support, Qasemi said.

“Such measures eventually are going to be detrimental to the United States while they are not going to produce any military results,” he said.

Dropping a 10-ton bomb on al-Qaeda and Daesh terrorists is going to have no military sense as the number of terrorists affiliated with the two terrorist groups in Afghanistan are not that big requiring deployment of such a big bomb against them, Qasemi said.

Answering a question on possible political implications of the US military moves, he said that it is possible Washington is after achieving political ends.

“Practically, however, the regional developments in the past, including the situation in Syria and Afghanistan, have demonstrated that through a military approach we are not going to address regional issues,” Qasemi said.
