US leaving JCPOA, not a wise approach: Dutch analyst

In an interview with IRNA, Laura Schumans said there would be retaliation from the Iranian side if the deal ends and it would lead to increase friction between Iran and the US.

US President Donald Trump will announce his decision on Iran nuclear deal on Tuesday night. The US administration has done a great deal during past year to kill Iran nuclear deal.

Trump was initially expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing the implementation of the JCPOA on May 12.

Laura Schumans to a question said if the US quits Iran nuclear deal it would lead to increase in the tensions between Iran and the west and this is the main problem that is why the Europe, especially France and Germany are trying to keep the nuclear deal that was brokered under the President Barack Obama.

She said there would be retaliation from the Iranian side if the deal ends and it would lead to increase friction between Iran and the US.

The analyst to another question said that the US may not be agreeing with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for political reasons they have their own strategic agenda in the region and they are signing agreement with Saudi Arabia to start with.

“So when you talk about the wider picture of conflict in Middle East they have their own agenda,' she noted.

Expressing her views, the analyst said the European countries may be forced by the US to support it in quitting the deal.

Laura Schumans replying to yet another question said the US is not abiding by many agreements like the climate deal that was brokered so they have their own political agenda but the US policies are increasing conflict in the world.

“So if the nuclear deal with Iran ends it will lead to a bigger conflict and bigger issues with other countries definitely,” she viewed.

The researcher added that if there is increase of conflict between the west and the Muslim world yes first Europe would be the target of terrorism and secondly the US.
