UN Spokesman hopes Bahraini cleric would be allowed to receive treatment

Stephane Dujarric made the remarks in response to a question regarding the UN’s stance about Al Khalifa’s preventing the sheikh from receiving treatment.

One of the leaders of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, an opposition group in Bahrain, said on Sunday that the movement’s leader Sheikh Isa Qasem is not in a good condition and needs immediate attention, but he is in custody and his house is surrounded by security forces.

There were clashes between Al-Khalifa security forces and the Bahraini youths on Monday night.

With the increase of anti-government protests, Saudi-backed Al-Khalifa regime detained Sheikh Isa Qasem for his speeches against the regime.
