UN podium for peace not warmongering: Iran MP

Donald Trump used the United Nations as a podium to promote warmongering and violence, Head of Iran's Parliament (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said during a Friday Prayer pre-sermon speech in Varamin, a city in Tehran Province.

Naqavi Hosseini, then, referring to the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, said that Iran was very short of military hardware at that time, but today the country has developed its sophisticated weapons and advanced missiles to stand against enemy threats.

The global arrogance is preventing Iran from having access to missiles to build up its deterrent power, while the country is under constant threats, he said.

But other countries are allowed to stockpile weaponries despite not facing threats, the Iranian Member of Parliament added.

The global arrogance is angry with Iran and Trump's recent address at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly showed how contemptible he is, Naqavi Hosseini said.

The United States, under the influence of illusions, came to Syria and Iraq to dominate Iran, he said.
But a strong Iran foiled all their plots, he added.
