Guterres made the remarks Friday on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
'(Climate change) is undeniable. And it is one of the biggest threats to our present world and to the future of our planet. On the other hand, climate action is unstoppable,' he said.
'Stay the course, to remain committed to the implementation of the Paris Agreement to the benefit of all of us,” the UN chief added.
Despite the fact that World leaders like Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Emmanuel Macron have pledged to back this vital agreement, US President Donald Trump announced on June 1 that the United States is to withdraw the Paris accord.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Brussels between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and European Union officials on climate change and trade.
During the meeting Keqiang warned the world that world without regulations will turn out to be a jungle.
China ranks first in producing greenhouse gases and the US stands on the second place.
The Paris agreement which was signed by about 200 countries in 2015 aims at preventing global warming.
Based on the agreement, the United States has been committed to reduce its emission to 26-28 percent in 2025 compared to 2005.
