Turkish PM: 36 killed in Istanbul airport attack

Yildirim made the remarks early Wednesday morning after he arrived in the Istanbul airport from a top security meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport was attacked by three terrorists Tuesday evening. The attackers who came to airport by a taxi opened fire to the people around them at the international terminal before blowing themselves up with suicide bombs. The explosions added to the number of the casualties.

Local media reports said so far, 147 people were injured and the number may increase.

According to the Turkish prime minister a number of the injured could be nationals of other countries.

He added that the airport was open to international flights at 2:30am local time under tight security measures.

Describing the attack as an unfair act made against defenseless people, Yildirim said the attack was made when Turkey is to normalize its ties with its neighboring stats.

Turkish leaders on Tuesday made a series of moves meant to normalize ties with Russia and the Zionist regime.

This report will be updated later.
