Turkish FM urges Tehran-Ankara cooperation on PKK

In an interview with the Turkish TRT TV network, he added that the fact the PKK forces do not attack Iran at present does not mean that they will not do so in future and Iran itself knows it well.

“Nobody can claim that they do not intend to split Iranian territory. Therefore, it’s better for both countries to have mutual cooperation in the field,” he said.

Iran and PKK forces usually do not have clashes but Iran knows that this outfit beyond the borders may target it at the first opportunity, he said.

Stressing the need for PKK to end presence in Qandil, he described the region as ‘quagmire of terrorists’, saying, “Operations to destroy terrorists’ location in Qandil should be successfully ended so that we would able to live peacefully in Turkey.”

Terrorists residing in northern Iraq entered Turkey via the region and the country is continuing the operations to terminate the process, Cavusoglu said.
