Thousands march In Quds Day rallies In Kashmir

According to the IRNA correspondent in Srinagar, demonstrators raised 'Free Palestine' slogans as thousands joined rallies after congregational prayers.

Quds Day was observed by the people from all walks of life with political affiliations to different parties.

Hundreds of thousands joined prayers at historic Jamia Mosque of Srinagar where Hurriyat Conference leader and Kashmir's head priest Mirwaiz Dr Umer Farooq addressed the worshippers. Mirwaiz denounced the Zionist crimes in the occupied Palestine and expressed solidarity with the resistance there.

A large procession was taken out from Masjid Sajjadia in downtown Srinagar with people carrying yellow flags of Hezbollah and portraits of resistance leaders shouting slogans against US and Israel.

Reports of Quds Day rallies have also come in from scores of other localities in Srinagar and major districts of Kashmir, including Baramulla, Pulwama and Budgam.

In Budgam a massive procession began from towns Imambargah and culminated at town square. Here Hurriyat leader Agha Syed Hassan addressed the gathering and conveyed his gratitude to resistance for keeping the Palestinian cause alive.

Quds Day rallies were taken out in several other places and towns of the valley.

A report from Himalayan town of Kargil said massive Quds Day rallies were taken out through the town after Friday prayers.
