The ceremony was attended by Sunni and Shia figures in al-Meroz Hotel in the capital of Thailand.
Addressing the gathering, Iran’s Ambassador to Thailand Mohsen Mohammadi said that Quds Day is one of the most outstanding legacies of the late Imam Khomeini which reveals the Iranian nation’s attachment to the holy Quds and Palestine.
“Quds Day is in fact a confrontation between justice and tyranny, as Quds Day does not belong to the Palestinians alone; rather it is day of Islamic Ummah and uproar of the Islamic world against the killer cancer of Zionism,” he said.
Enemies of Islam are trying to disrupt Islamic countries’ concentration on the issue of Palestine by creating discord among the Muslim states and sparking back-to-back crises, he said.
Civil wars in the region are also aimed at putting the central issue of the Islamic world, Palestine, into oblivion, he said.
“US move in recognizing Holy Quds as the capital of the usurper regime is flagrant violation of the international resolutions and this act is totally condemned,” he said.
Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on August 7, 1979, designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds Day and the day of Islam's life.
To date, not only the Iranians, but also all the freedom-seekers of the world in many countries have marked the last Friday of Ramadan every year by holding demonstrations, to declare their solidarity with the Palestinians and support for their lawful rights.
