Tatarstan president arrives in Mashhad

The province’s Governor General Ali Reza Rashidian said at the welcoming ceremony for Tatarstan president late on Wednesday that selection of Mashhad as the cultural capital of Islamic world as well as current trend of regional developments have doubled the need for promoting ties, particularly with neighboring and Muslim states.

He further noted that Khorasan Razavi has a strong private sector which can contribute a lot to promoting economic ties with Tatarstan, given its capacities.

Minnikhanov, for his part, said that the republic hosted the province’s deputy governor general last year when it was agreed to take further steps in line with boosting ties.

He further stated that Tatarstan is a Muslim-inhabited republic and has various commonalities with Khorasan, which can help develop economic and cultural relations.

Tatarstan is an autonomous republic of the Russian Federation located in the Volga Federal District. Its capital is the city of Kazan.
