Syrian PM confers with parliament speaker

During the meeting, Khamis expressed confidence that the two countries by standing together may resist against enemies and gain victory.

Khamis, who is in Tehran to participate in swearing-in ceremony of President Hassan Rouhani, said that Iran is an international power in the region, which plays effective role in creating stability and establishment of peace and tranquility in the region, and expressed the hope that Saudi Arabia would quit cooperating with Israel and the US and think about establishment of tranquility in the region.

He congratulated the presidential election held in a democratic manner in Iran and swearing-in ceremony to Larijani and Iranian great nation while expressing the hope that the new government could gain great success.

Khamis stressed that the Syrian president and nation are so thankful for Iran's government and nation and they are aware that without Iran's support they could not gain these victories.

He pointed to role of the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia in disrupting regional tranquility and said that they planted seeds of terrorism and created such instability and crisis in the region.

The Syrian PM said that situation politically and militarily is getting better, but 'our greatest challenge is economic issues, which by Iranians collaboration and cooperation it could be passed as well'.

Khamis said that bilateral economic cooperation could be beneficial for both nations and another turning point for cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that Iran has always been supporter for Syrian government and nation and expressed the hope that Astana Talks could gain desirable results, so we witness establishment of peace in the region.
