Speaker: Iran's diplomacy based on resolving disputes via talks

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Chairman of the European Parliament’s (EP) group for relations with Iran, Janusz Lewandowski in Tehran on Sunday.

Iran is committed to implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and all should never let baseless accusations leveled by the US and some of its allies in the region prevent the implementation of JCPOA accord, he said.

Referring to exchange of trade between Iran and EU, Larijani said the EU can take advantage of post-JCPOA atmosphere and help expand economic cooperation through lift of red-tapes.

Iranian parliament has ratified new rules easing investments opportunities in gas, oil, petrochemical, benefiting from clean energy, rail road, mine exploitation and protecting environment which are suitable for EU to invest in those sectors, Larijani said.

The new US president delivers new speeches everyday against Iran in order to frighten other countries to stay away from Iran while awarding prizes to terrorism-sponsored countries.

Iran has spared no effort in fight against terrorism, but for their complete annihilation an international will is required, Larijani said, adding that regretfully some specific countries support them (terrorists) and supply them with arms while issuing statements in condemnation of terrorism, Larijani said.

Those who created Taliban have created Daesh, he said.

On drug narcotics, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran spared no effort in fight against drug trafficking, but this in the absence of complete cooperation of all countries will not bear any fruits, he said.

The EU envoy, for his part, expressed regret over devastating quake in west of Iran and thanked for immediate rescue operation in the affected areas.

'We convey good messages on behalf of the EU irrespective to whatever decision might be taken by President Trump as the EU feels duty-bound to the implementation of the JCPOA and will stand besides Iran,' he said.

The EU parliament comprising 28 countries but after brexit, it will become 27 which all call for supporting Iran's nuclear deal, he said.

The restoration of stability in the region is of prime importance for the EU and Iran can play a very significant role in this regard as the country has endeavored in the fight against Daesh which is known to all, he said.

Victory over Daesh is not the end of the game, but their annihilation at this stage is of prime importance and EU countries are well aware of this danger, he said.

The EU is eager to broaden economic cooperation with Iran and also hopes that grounds for the expansion of such cooperation to be created and the EU does its best to remove the banking barriers at the earliest.

One of the major problems is the expansion of drug trafficking in the world mainly from Afghanistan, he said, adding that the EU and Iran can expand close cooperation in other sectors such as fight against organized crimes.

At the end of the meeting, the EU envoy expressed hope the exchange of economic cooperation between Iran and EU to be further bolstered and broadened.
