Senior military commander calls for promotion of defense capabilities

Speaking in a gathering of the Armed Forces staff, he urged readiness for speedy reaction against threats as well as deepening intelligence superiority over enemy movements as top priorities.

Calling the new year a year in which new horizons will be opened towards Iranian nation, he noted that the Armed Forces will employ all their capabilities to realize the “Resistance Economy: Production and Employment” outlined by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The official advised all in particular the Armed Forces to avoid import of foreign commodities and use Iranian-made products.

Baqeri praised God for the establishment of peace and security in the country during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2017).

Despite arrogant powers and Takfiri terrorists’ efforts, the Armed Forces and the Intelligence Ministry's vigilance prevented penetration of the terrorist groups into the country, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the commander also hailed Syria's victories over terrorists, in particular liberation of Aleppo, in the last Iranian year.

Pointing to Daesh defeats in Iraq, he said that there are signs of complete defeat of Takfiri terrorists.

Resistance movements of the region should be vigilant towards Takfiri terrorists’ plots for destabilizing the region, Baqeri noted.

He said that “The US and its allies’ psychological war will not effect us and we will counter the pressures and propagandas by all means.”
