Rouhani urges decisions leading to oil price hike

Rouhani made the remark in a telephone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicholas Madoro.

He congratulated Madoro on successful performance of the NAM Summit held in Venezuela, and hoped that during Venezuela presidency, the NAM states would have more activity and cooperation on the international and regional issues.

He thanked Venezuela for its stances in the Algiers meeting of the oil producing nations to maintain Iran's quota and reach the level prior to sanctions and said, 'All should make efforts so that the expert committee will make decisions in the November session that would lead to the oil price hike.'

President Rouhani welcomed statement of Venezuelan president on achievements of the OPEC ministerial consultative meeting in Algiers and said that to upgrade and stabilize oil price in the global level, serious talks should held with the non-OPEC states and concurrent with the expert sessions, good decisions will be made for devising quotas for export of the oil producing countries.

President Rouhani said Tehran welcomes upgrading of Tehran-Caracas cooperation and hoped that executive organs of the two countries will concentrate all their efforts on speedy and full implementation of agreements.

The Venezuelan President in turn thanked President Rouhani for presence in the NAM summit in Margarita Island and said Venezuela wants promotion of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He hoped that once the Iran-Venezuela joint economic cooperation commission convenes, it will lead to settlement of problems and postponed problems and implementation of new projects.

President Rouhani said that Iran and Venezuela share common and coordinated stances on global and regional issues, especially on OPEC, and that's the key to success of the two countries.

Underlining the need for increase in oil prices, Madoro said since the Algeria session was successful, one can be hopeful that the oil market will lead to stability.

He added talks and cooperation with the non-OPEC members will continue to reach the common view to stabilize and increase oil prices.
