Rouhani: Trump visits an alienated country lacking election concepts

Speaking to over 300 domestic and foreign reporters in Tehran, he said people in Saudi Arabia are our friends and we have always loved them and we hope the Saudi government to choose the right path.

In response to a question posed by the US CBS news agency, Rouhani said purchasing weapons and its production never reach ones to power as part of a country’s power is military might and we fully understand this reality, he said.

The core power of one's nation is their national resolve and this will be manifested in their presence in the country's elections and casting their ballots in ballot boxes, he said.

US President Donald Trump saw active presence of some 45 million Iranian nationals on ballot boxes, but he visted a country that does not know the meaning of the elections and its people never saw polling boxes, he said.

'We hope that one day Saudi Arabia to hold elections to put an end to the hereditary rulers making the country much more powerful,' he said.

Saudi Arabia has showcased numerous scenarios and should bear in mind that in fight against terrorism, pouring the nation's funds to superpowers never resolves the issue, Rouhani said.

People in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon have stood against terrorism and the Iranian nation has backed and is to support them through dispatch of diplomats and military advisors, he said.
