Rouhani calls for collective campaign against terrorism

Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting French National Assembly President Claude Bartolone.

'In addition to coordinated military campaign against terrorism, the states must initiate cultural campaign as well to prevent the youth not to fall into trap of the terrorist groups,' President Rouhani said.

He said that there is no doubt that terrorism is a big danger for the regional countries and the entire world.

Rouhani said that as a victim of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran is well aware of the magnitude of the threat of the dirty phenomenon and at the same time, France has well understood the momentous issue due to terrorist attacks over the past several months.

President Rouhani said through diplomatic consultation and cooperation, Iran and France should control the trafficking routes of the terrorist groups and prevent any help to terrorists by certain countries.

He said that regional stability will be possible by cutting support for terrorism.

'Failure of terrorism, restoration of stability and security to the region, repatriation of refugees to their homeland and materialization of the national resolve are the common and important goals of settlement of the regional disputes by the diplomatic means.'

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran helps the Iraqi and Syrian governments on their own demand to fight terrorism.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran also believes that dialogue and diplomatic means are the right course for settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Syria.'

On Iran-France ties, Rouhani said that immediate and careful implementation of the contracts will bring about tangible change in Tehran-Paris relations in the political, economic, cultural and scientific domains.

President Rouhani called for implementation of tens of contracts and documents signed by the Iranian and French public and private sectors during his tour of Europe after nuclear accord last year.

'We are witnessing progress in implementation of some of the contracts and their full implementation can bring about change in the Tehran-Paris ties.'

Highlighting the role of Iranian and French parliaments in expansion of cooperation and achieving common goals, Rouhani said nuclear agreement created a new atmosphere for cooperation which should be used in the best possible manner.

Iran and France enjoy abundant potential and facilities that can be employed on the road to promotion of cooperation between the two governments and interests of the two nations, he added.

Rouhani said that expansion of parliamentary relations between Iranian and French parliaments would help utilize the abundant historical, literary and cultural attractions of Iran and France, saying that Iran is happy that the diplomatic relations between the two countries have also been upgraded.

He noted that the goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the long and important talks with the G5+1 was to prove its right of peaceful nuclear activity and show its will for constructive engagement with the world.

President Rouhani said full and speedy implementation of commitments within framework of the nuclear agreements is an important criteria and basis for more confidence building by Iran and the parties to JCPOA.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran fully abides by its commitments to the JCPOA and stressed speedy and careful implementation of all the JCPOA commitments by all parties.'

He expressed deep concern about deterioration of humanitarian situation in Syria, saying that the 'worrying' destruction of infrastructures, the killing or bewilderment of the innocent people in the region, especially in Syria must stop.

'Today, the region witnesses extensive presence of terrorist groups that do not adhere to the least humanitarian principles. That is while, the ancient and historical works and oil of Syria and Iraq are sold in other markets by terrorists and all know that that countries either inside and outside the region help them and which countries do provide terrorists with arms and munitions.'

Bartolone for his part said his country supports efforts of major French banks for cooperation and investment in Iran.

He said Iran and France should cooperate to implement all the business contract already reached between the two sides.

'French national parliament in the course of Iran-G5+1 talks strongly supported the negotiations firmly and today is firmly after full implementation of the JCPOA as well.'

He said that the JCPOA is a win-win contract for the two parties.

The French official said that Iran adheres to its commitments and regarding the liabilities Iran and the international community have towards each other, efforts should be made for well and full implementation of the accords.

Describing the Islamic Republic of Iran as the main factor of stability and security in the region, Bartolone upheld Iran's influential role especially in campaign against terrorism.

Iran and France share close and common stances on many regional and international issues and the two countries can through close cooperation play an effective role in settlement of regional and global disputes, said the French parliamentarian.
