Regional security important for both Iran, Lebanon: MP

Chairman of Iranian Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told reporters after a meeting with the Syrian Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Saturday evening.

He said, 'We discussed bilateral relations, regional security and developments in Syria.'

Iran and Lebanon share the similar view that solution to the Syria crisis is possible through political ways, the MP added.

He said,'I believe that Takfiri thoughts are against Islam and Muslims.'

Islam is the religion of moderation, mercy and kindness, the lawmaker noted.

He said the approach and policy of Takfiris is in contrast with the real Islam.

Boroujerdi underlined that 'Unfortunately, today in some Islamic countries, we are facing crises and we have to find solutions for them.'

Tehran and Beirut are ready to take serious steps for development of relations and full-scale cooperation, he noted.

The MP referred to election of the new president in Lebanon and formation of a new government there, and said Iran is ready to take new steps forward for development and boost of cooperation in all fields.

He pointed to Lebanese prime minister stress on necessity of activating two countries' private sectors and said, 'I believe that Iran and Lebanon have lots of capacities particularly in fields of trade and economy that permits them to be more active than the past.'
