The comments by the US President tend to be right and accurate as long as reasons behind promotion of the relentless terrorism in the world today are concerned.
However, they tend to be, at the same time, ridiculous, baseless and false as long as they mean to refer to the great Iranian people and the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
A look back in history and developments of the past decades show very clearly who President Trump meant to refer to making such comments.
If the current President of the United States remains to be a basically uninformed person in the politics, other statesmen across the world as well as the global public opinion are still aware of the main roots of the present terrorism in the world; they are not unmindful about the main promoters of terrorism and those that are fanning the fire of terrorism today.
When the Americans busily involved in a big gamble to put together Taleban and al- Qaeda terrorist groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan in a bid to secure their regional and economic interests, the Islamic Republic of Iran was in the first stages of its establishment and to stabilize itself, it was engaged in a big war with the MKO terrorist group which had the support of the Americans.
It is going to be of use for the US President to have a look at the history to examine the double standards followed by the West in legitimizing the terrorist activities of the MKO elements, describing them as political activities.
In the same way, if the terrorist groups like Taleban and al- Qaeda, which are the main sources of terrorism overwhelming the region today, were not promoted in line with the West’s regional interests, or the Daesh (ISIS) and Al-Nusra Front had not had the support of the West attempting to overthrow Bashar al-Assad’s legitimate government in Syria, perhaps terrorism today would not seem to be so unyielding and relentless.
Unfortunately, for long pursuing such double standards and distorting the truth has been part of the political culture in the West.
As a result of all the big gambles taken by the West and blind, uncalculated supports given to the terrorist groups, now they are no longer under the control of their main promoters and sponsors, and that is why the world witnessed terrorist incidents in the US soil on September 11, 2001 as well as other such attacks conducted deep in the heartlands of Western countries.
This way, the global terrorism has been on the rise broadening its domain of influence.
Following the shocking 9/11 attacks, “fighting terrorism” turned to be an accepted global discourse. But the United States and the West, instead of waging a real war against terrorist elements, started using terrorism as a brand against all parties that remained to counter their ideas and policies. This is the wrong path they still persistently follow.
Thus, the global public opinion, to its surprise, came to be directed toward believing that the Palestinian and Lebanese people who were trying to protect their rights, were “terrorists” and Iran as the supporter of the Resistance Movement, hence, was “sponsor of terrorism” as part of the “axis of evil”.
Such an atmosphere was created against Iran and all the nations confronting the global hegemonic system in a bid to deviate the global public opinion from paying heed to the strategic faults of the West.
In addressing the issue of terrorism, the US and its allies in the region, for three main reasons, have lacked enough motivation to wage a real fight against terrorism from the outset.
First, the West have been exploiting all the crises and chaos created by the terrorist groups in the region to legitimize its incursions and interventions across the region.
Second, the West and interventionist powers are following to disintegrate the region. For long, the United States has been working on disintegrating the region under the so-called plan of the “Greater Middle East”.
Finally, the US remain to be unconditionally committed to safeguarding Israel and securing goals the Zionist regime follows to achieve in the region; goals that, in the first place, have their basis in terrorism and occupation.
The recent visit to the region by Trump and the stances adopted by him and the US regional allies, demonstrated very well that they insist to continue their wrong path in their fight against terrorism.
They are the people in the region and Europe who are going to pay the price for all these faults.
