The Muslims and especially the Iranians during all these years have demonstrated that the Quds Day is a show of support for the Palestinian cause, Palestinian people and the sacred Al Aqsa Mosque, the head of Iran's Expediency Council told a group of Iranian academics and officials on Wednesday.
Rafsanjani then referred to the plots by the enemies of Islam against Muslims and the goals the Zionist regime is following in the region and urged people to attend the demonstrations on the Quds Day.
If Muslims, instead of embarking on ethnic and religious conflicts and killing each other, started supporting the Palestinians, we would never face the dire conditions the Palestinians are facing now, and the Zionists could never commit such inhuman atrocities in the Occupied Territories and especially in Gaza, he said.
The annual event of the Quds Day, held on the last Friday of Ramadan, was initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and Israel’s control over Quds.
