Qasemi: NATO concern over Iran missile program is baseless

Qasemi made the remarks in reaction to the NATO summit statement and said, 'We reject and condemn the repeated anti-Iran allegations of the statement as before.'
'We closely followed the developments and discussions at the meeting; especially, we witnessed the behavior and pressures of the US over the Treaty's members. Unfortunately, though highest portion of the expenditures of NATO go to the US security, the country is so demandingly and through exerting pressures trying to dictate its stances and policies to other nations, especially the European countries.'
'It's so surprising and worth contemplating that certain parties are still vainly trying to repeat baseless and absurd charges against policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.'
As the only specialized international reference body, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has always been confirming all nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Qasemi, adding that the NATO members are undoubtedly well aware of the repeated and constant reports of the IAEA on Iran's measures and adherence to its commitments.
He said that instead of trying to please American officials, they should have been concerned over illegal and unilateral exit and non-adherence of one of their members to international commitments on various issues, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), adding that instead of misrepresenting the clear and obvious realities , they (the NATO) should have criticized the unilateral and dangerous policies of the country.
He went on to say that however, under present juncture, certain NATO members seem to have been ordered to change once again the position of the US and Iran, which has always been committed to its international commitments and its vigilant policies are in line with guaranteeing international peace and security.
'The NATO concern over Iran's missile program is fully baseless and unjustified. The missile program of the Islamic Republic is not in violation of the resolution 2231; rather, it is fully conventional and defensive in nature. Like all the world independent states, Iran is entitled to enjoying all the conventional military-defensive programs for the sake of defending interests, people and land of the country; surely, such unjustified expression of concern will not affect the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in maintaining, expanding and promoting the missile defense program and potential.'
Commenting on the role of the Islamic Republic in the region, he said, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been seeking cooperation and dialogue inside the region with its neighbors and believes in it, not sparing either up to now or in the future to enter such dialogues with its neighbors in any form. Iran believes that none of the regional crises have or have had military solution, Qasemi announced.
To the end of his remarks, Qasemi said that under present sensitive historical juncture, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been vigilant and launched ceaseless efforts to fight the nurtured and exported terrorists and eventually it played effective role in ending the land sovereignty of the dangerous terrorist groups, such as Daesh, in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran's efforts have been superior and even superseding efforts of certain NATO members, that have set up at times 'showy and ineffective' coalitions for campaign against terrorism, as terrorists in groups headed for the Middle East from the same countries, added Qasemi.
